Spermatocele is an out-pouching off of one of the epididymal tubules, which are the tubes that sperm swim through. These are typically not dangerous, but they can be painful. If they are painful, spermatoceles can be treated with surgery. It is important to know that surgery for spermatoceles can result in a blockage of the epididymal tubules, so it should not be undertaken in men of reproductive age.
